UK weather: Warnings of more floods and ice after Storm Babet leaves hundreds of homes submerged
Although the rain has largely eased, the Environment Agency warned that major rivers in the affected areas, including the River Severn, could burst their banks by Wednesday.
There could be more flooding in the UK this week after torrential rain from Storm Babet inundated hundreds of properties and caused ice along the way.
The Environment Agency said further flood warnings are expected in the worst-hit areas, although severe flood warnings have been lifted, meaning there is a risk of death or serious injury.
“Flooding along the River Severn will continue until Wednesday”; The agency reported it.
"Further flooding from rivers and surface water is possible in parts of England on Tuesday and Wednesday due to further heavy rainfall."
According to the EA, around 1,250 properties were flooded in England and around 30,000 properties were secured against flooding.
Published as the Met Office issues overnight ice warnings which will remain in place across Scotland and the north of England until 9am today.
Maureen Gilbert, 83, was found dead after her Derbyshire home was hit by floods. This brings the number of people who have died in Great Britain since the storm to at least four.
