EastEnders' Jay Brown suffers horrific car accident - will he survive?
Grieving Jay Brown (Jamie Borthwick) died in a horrific car crash in EastEnders tonight (October 25) after taking multiple drugs following another serious family breakdown.
When Billy (Perry Fenwick) and Ben Mitchell (Max Bowden) found out that Jay was having an affair with prostitute Nadine (Jazzy Phoenix), he was expelled. Only Gina Knight (Francesca Henry) was at his side and offered him a bed at the Vic.
But a heart-to-heart talk with stepdaughter Lexi Pearce (Isabella Brown) led to an attempted reconciliation and Lexi planned to scatter her late mother Lola's (Danielle Harold) ashes in the square.
Since Jay was Lola's widower, he couldn't say goodbye to her; And things got worse when George Knight (Colin Salmon) kicked him out after finding drugs in his bag and Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) banned him from the pub.
Meanwhile, Billy urges Jay to use Lola's power, like he told Billy on the day of her funeral. She then sent Jay back to Ben and her husband Callum Highway's (Tony Clay) apartment to go through Lola's things and find something for Lexi to wear.
Jay burst into tears as he looked at Lola's hoop earrings and found a pair of her earrings reserved for Lexi "in case she's old enough."
Jay couldn't take it and took whatever medication he had. Ben and Billy later found him unconscious. Since Lexi was in the next room, her other stepfather, Callum, had to make sure she didn't see Jay in such a terrible state while Ben was angry with Jay.
An argument ensued when Billy and Ben condemned Jay's actions and he responded by remembering their destructive behavior in the past. But when Jay grabbed the urn containing Lola's ashes and Billy insisted that Jay not take them, the urn fell over and the ashes were scattered on the floor.
With those words, a devastated Billy sent Jay away forever, while Lexi was shocked to see what had happened to her mother's remains.
Jay decides to go to Margate, the site of one of his last happy memories with Lola; but he refused Gina's support and agreed with George that he couldn't take her with him.
Jay drove one of the cars out of its parking spot, but Gina panicked when the police arrived at the Vic looking for Jay's next of kin: the late Lola. They refused to speak to anyone until Police Inspector Callum intervened. Callum is said to have told Ben and Billy that Jay had been in an accident. Will Jay survive?
